INDUCE

I just can't bring myself to work on our population models that i am trying to finish so i have decided to rant about the INDUCE act. First head over to www.eff.org and fire off some emails or call your reps to get them to stop. So you may be wondering what the big deal is, sure, if a company writes software that helps people commit copyright violations shouldn't they be responsible, because the people obviously couldn't commit copyright violations without these new tools. I can't figure out why all the hardcore right wing types aren't going crazy. They seem to freak out when people try to pin gun deaths on the gun manufactures. Remember the movie Shane everyone, "A gun is a tool, no better or worse than person using it." So, could some explain to me why in one case the person using the tool should be punished, but in the other it is the person who made the tool. Oh yeah, i remember, always follow the money. Who has the money, the gun industry and the RIAA. And where is it going, straight to the top, our fearless leaders. It isn't even funny anymore.

I guess i shouldn't care though, it isn't like their is much common sense left. I am still confused how "Clause 8: To promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for LIMITED TIMES to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries;" means 90 years and the life of the author. And if anyone cares, check out this article, Jefferson spells it out pretty clearly i think.
