Well, it is official, Modest Mouse has entirely sold out. Their new song "float on" or whatever it is called was on the fake nickelodeon channel in between shows. I guess that is the end of that, at least i can always listen to their old stuff and remember the good old days.
Posted by cmorton at June 3, 2004 03:58 PM | TrackBackwhat does selling out mean? and once a band sells out, does that mean any new music isn't valid or good? i struggle with these same things myself, i first saw modest mouse the year 2000 or earlier, so it's totally weird to see them on the radio and on bullshit corporate tv. but this is capitalism, and i can't say that if i was in a similar position that i wouldn't do the same. i guess i feel selfish of independent culture when it gets co opted by the mainstream, another ambigious term, but then i remember that there's always new independent bands and culture that's fresh and original and not yet on mtv.
