Sell Outs

Well, it is official, Modest Mouse has entirely sold out. Their new song "float on" or whatever it is called was on the fake nickelodeon channel in between shows. I guess that is the end of that, at least i can always listen to their old stuff and remember the good old days.

what does selling out mean? and once a band sells out, does that mean any new music isn't valid or good? i struggle with these same things myself, i first saw modest mouse the year 2000 or earlier, so it's totally weird to see them on the radio and on bullshit corporate tv. but this is capitalism, and i can't say that if i was in a similar position that i wouldn't do the same. i guess i feel selfish of independent culture when it gets co opted by the mainstream, another ambigious term, but then i remember that there's always new independent bands and culture that's fresh and original and not yet on mtv.
