GIGANTIC

Phew! Just finished my second to last paper for this semester, one more to go and a test and then I´m one semester closer to graduating. Man oh man that sounds good. The Breeders rocked the fuck out of Santiago on Thursday night, me n Vince n Andrea caught the show and were amazed by how stoked the kids here were to see the Breeders play. These two girls started beating the shit out of each other down front but I don´t think the band was responsible for that. Highlights included them covering the main song from everyone´s favorite musical, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and them playing Gigantic, the classic Pixies tune. Everyone freaked out when they played that, me n Vince jumping along with them up front. Good show.
Looks like I´m shoving out of Santiago next Sunday directly to Buenos Aires for 10 days or so, enough time to see a good chunk of the Argentinian capital and talk to a ton of people about their feelings on the election. Later this month Menem and Kirchner are having a run off, my history professor broke it down for us in class last week and his analysis basically says that unless one of them wins by at least 5% Argentina is heading for a political crisis and that neither of the candidates will implement any programs that will start Argentina on the road out of its staggering debt. This means they´re possibly heading for another economic crisis in about two years time. You heard it here first, folks. What´s sad is that Argentina was the model student of the IMF and it´s neoliberal economic approach, doing absolutely everything the IMF and World Bank asked up to and including the absolutely down syndrome retarded decision to dollarize the economy and now look where they are. Menem will probably win and he´s right there in this same school of economic that caused the crisis in the first place. On top of all this, nobody´s entirely sure that the same thing won´t happen to Chile in a couple years time meanwhile Chile signs its free trade agreements with the US and works to open its economy just like good old father IMF wants. When we start seeing dollar bills as common currency down here, say goodbye folks because it´s all over.
Taking a study break yesterday I decided to hack away the 8 months of hair growing on the top of my head and give myself a mohawk. I´d been meaning to cut the black mop off anyway so why the hell not? Well, it´s gone already because it looked ridiculous, rather I looked ridiculous with it, but not before my housemate Kat snapped some pictures on her digital camera. I´ll work on getting them up here soon for all to laugh at.
Godspeed at school this week Steve, may it pass quickly and painlessly into summer vacation (Woo Hoo!!) and somewhere in the dark and distant future, a college diploma to hang up on my bathroom wall.
