So it`s Thursday night, damn near midnight, and begin my ridiculously long busride back to Santiago in about 6 and a half hours. I kinda got screwed on the flight back to Santiago or else I`d have been able to stay another day and see Coroico, but it`s okay, it leaves me more to do when I come back thru. These hostel computers are shite, but go figure. Overall, La Paz has been really really fun. I did the bike ride today from La Cumbre to Yolosi along the world`s most dangerous road and got to see what was left of the bus that tumbled off a cliff back on September 2nd when the driver fell asleep and killed all 41 people on board. I also got to see the spot where about ten years ago a truck with 100 campesinos went over the edge and caused the single- vehicle accident with the highest death toll in the history of the automobile. Overall the ride was very fun. There were only four of us including the guide, me and two english blokes. Rocket Steve made an appearance as I got to use some of the downhill skills I picked up over the year before I left for Costa Rica. We were very fast, we finished about an hour ahead of schedule and my forearms are absolutely meat right now. That`s what I get for renting the cheap bicycle, but overall it was still a very good workout. I just went and had beers with the english blokes, they`re off east tomorrow morning a couple hours after my bus leaves for Arica. The interesting moment of the night came when the bartender walked to our table to tell me that I look a lot like Julian Casablancas, the singer of the Strokes. It must have been the new york charm I was displaying or my authentic bedhead hairdo because I`m certainly not yet a rock star and when I become one I`m never going to wear a leather jacket like that guy. Not vegan. Anyway, off to bed before the bus ride from hell begins. The last you may ever hear from me might be about some gringo tossing a screaming baby out the window of a bus, let`s hope that there aren`t any and if there are I`ll be able to control myself and not toss the screaming brats into oncoming traffic. Get off the bus, Steve.
